WHAT IS 3D THERMOGRAPHY

Based on 3D reconstruction with temperature information. Whenever machine vision needs to detect and track people or animals the major challenge is the correct detection. Distinguishing between a human and let's say a moving chair can get complicated when looked at from an overhead position.
By incorporating the heat signature into the algorithm the confidence of telling persons from objects is dramatically increased. Furthermore, required calculation power is lower then compared to the heavy camera vision with machine learning , allowing implementation into embedded products at acceptable cost.
The combination of thermal and 3D information allows the machine vision algorithms to be simplified becoming far more reliable when compared to conventional camera systems,   3D or thermal imaging only approaches.

In a room up to 5mx7m, persons can be distinguished from tables, moving chairs, ..  With this, the position of the persons can be determined, as well as the head locations.  Reports can be extracted to follow up in time this location of persons. Daily behavior can be monitored in time, to detect in advance possible dangerous situations.
